Thank you for viewing my trip clips & story.

At first I see the white capped Rockies at a distance then within a few miles I’m cruising into forested mountains at the lower elevation. I take a couple videos of the valley that greeted me with a waterfall and a feeling of, “I ain’t in Kansas anymore!”

There is little humidity in the mountain air and serenity on my Road King that I have been longing for since leaving KY. I proceed up the mountain range with a few pictures of the upcoming change in terrain from forest to the tree line. I’m not sure of the elevation at the tree line, but the air is sure telling of the change. They say out in those parts that there is approximately 5 degrees drop in temperature for every 1000 ft. About half way up the range I pull over for a view of the valley that I just left. This is where I pull up beside 3 guys from Florida making a trek across the mountain range on their way to Sturgis. BruiserActually we were all headed South on Hwy 34 towards Denver at the time, but they were going to turn around and go back for a second experience before heading on to Sturgis. They were great guys and it was my pleasure to meet them. The video looking back down into that valley and experiencing the expansion of the surrounding mountain range was no less than exhilarating. Thank God for his beautiful handiwork! I joined those guys and rode over the top of the Estes Park range and they turned back at Grand Lake.

Most of the rest of these videos are riding with those guys and enjoying the beauty of the mountains from atop my trusty RK. We stopped near the top of the range and gazed at an elk or two which were posing for numerous gazers with cameras. The temperature at the top was probably in the lower 50’s and the elevation at the top was 12,380 feet above sea level. I took a couple videos of the descent and of the dark sky that I was about to ride into. The weather can vary from one mountain to the other up there. I went my separate way from Grand Lake and continued through Winter Park and back to Golden, CO where I used to work at Coors. I rode back down out of the mountains through Clear Creek Canyon where I send this very personal video to all my Tennessee riding buddies, ole Alton, Mano and Larry. They truly understand my distorted humor.

I reached Denver that afternoon about 5 o’clock to a great reunion with my old friend Roy and his wife Vickie. I also paid a visit to one of my favorite Uncles who also lives in Littleton before leaving the next day around 5 Denver time. These last videos are leaving Castle Rock and entering a 26 mile stretch of prairie land on my way to I-70. That was quite a memorable part of the ride for me because of the serenity of the plains where it was one on one with my Harley with little interruption from traffic. I rode on into the night with the west to my back. I got as far as Hays, KS by 1 am when weariness caught up to me. Not from the ride, but from a week of not much sleep and cramming all that fun into a few short days. I got up the next morning and headed out into the Kansas plains where the magnificent windmills line the highway for miles. It was quite foggy the morning I left Hays, but I wasn’t complaining about not having to look into the sun. The trip home was not too bad even at 850 miles that day. I am ready to turn around and go back at any time.
